3 reasons why MarJon Beauchamp will blossom with Milwaukee Bucks – 2. Versatility, length, and size on the defensive end
As a big wing with tremendous athleticism and a seven-foot wingspan, MarJon Beauchamp will become a valuable defensive asset to the Milwaukee Bucks. He’s an intelligent defender that takes advantage of disrupting offenses with excellent awareness, lateral quickness, and ability to defend multiple positions while generating both steals and blocks on a consistent basis.
If you combine his physical presence of size and length to his versatility, high IQ, high motor, and dog mentality, Beauchamp could develop into a menace on the defensive end at the next level. He’ll certainly be able to contribute on that end of the floor right away.
In addition, another jumbo wing was exactly what the Bucks needed this offseason. Across the second-round postseason loss to the Celtics this past year, Milwaukee lacked wing size to be able to switch more defensively in an effort to contain Boston from the perimeter. Khris Middleton’s MCL tear in his knee was obviously a major influence, but the Bucks understand the importance of having the versatility on the wing to be able to adjust in certain scenarios like the Boston series.
MarJon Beauchamp will benefit the Bucks as a switchable defender that can guard 1-3 and even 1-4 once more muscle strength is put on. His offense is still a bit raw despite having solid shooting mechanics and the ability to score from all three levels, but his defensive presence alone should allow him to eventually break into the regular rotation with much room for growth on both sides of the ball.
