NBA Trades: The verdict on if the Milwaukee Bucks should trade for Eric Gordon

While it was reported that the Milwaukee Bucks were legitimately pursuing Eric Gordon with an offer on the table, it seems unlikely that they will land him this offseason.

With so many teams pursuing Gordon, the Bucks certainly will not be able to offer the best trade package in any deal due to their lack of assets and desirable players for a rebuilding team such as the Houston Rockets. Houston will not simply be dumping Gordon to another team, as they value him and will only deal him if a package meets their demands, no matter how steep. That puts the Bucks at a disadvantage compared to other rumored suitors such as the Philadelphia 76ers or the Phoenix Suns, who have far more assets and trade chips to utilize in a move.

It also seems unlikely that the Bucks would be willing to move Brook Lopez, given how highly the front office has spoken of him this offseason. He is clearly someone they see as an essential piece to this team, and understandably so as the center helped them win a championship less than one year ago. Adding Gordon’s hefty salary without including Lopez is possible, but it just seems quite unlikely, given how many pieces would have to be included. That goes without even mentioning a first round draft pick or two that the Rockets would want attached in a package.

Gordon would be a great piece to add to this Milwaukee roster, but it just seems quite unlikely at this point in time, barring some unforeseen seismic change.
