The NBA announced the All Summer League First and Second Teams on Monday, the day after summer league wrapped up, two Milwaukee Bucks were honored. On the First Team All Summer League was Sandro Mamukelashvili (a player I wanted to keep my eyes on) and on the Second Team All Summer League team was Lindell Wigginton. Let’s look closer at their five game performances that earned them recognition from the league.

Milwaukee Bucks NBA All Summer League First Team: Sandro Mamukelashvili

Sandro Mamukelashvili was joined on the All Summer League First Team by Tari Eason of the Houston Rockets, the 17th pick in this year’s draft, Keegan Murray of the Sacramento Kings, the 4th overall pick in this year’s draft, Cam Thomas of the Brooklyn Nets, the 27th pick in the 2021 draft and Quentin Grimes of the New York Knicks, the 25th pick in the 2021 draft. Sandro Mamukelashvili was the 54th pick in the 2021 draft, making him by far the latest player selected in the draft of the five players selected to the First Team and arguably making him the player that most exceeded expectations during the five game slate.

Mamukelashvili averaged 17 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks, a very impressive stat-line, however Mamu did also average 2.6 turnovers, a number he’ll need to control if he wants regular playing time in the NBA. Sandro’s s impressive averages were punctuated by his outing against the Boston Celtics summer league team, the second game of the Milwaukee Bucks’ summer schedule, when Mamu dropped 29 points, nine rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks while making 3-of-5 3-point attempts.

The other very impressive stat-line Mamu put up was against the Minnesota Timberwolves summer league team, the third game of the summer lineup, in this game he scored 18 points, grabbed 15! rebounds, dished four assists and snagged two steals. Sandro finished the summer schedule shooting 45 percent on field goals and a surprising and encouraging 47.6 percent on 3-pointers.

Mamukelashvili still has work to do to turn his two-way contract into a guaranteed NBA contract, but his summer league play was a strong step in the right direction.

Milwaukee Bucks NBA All Summer League Second Team: Lindell Wigginton

Lindell Wigginton joins the All Summer League Second Team alongside Santi Aldama of the Memphis Grizzlies, Aldama was drafted 30th overall in 2021 by the Utah Jazz and traded to the Memphis Grizzlies shortly after. Also on the Second Team was Benedict Mathurin of the Indiana Pacers, the 6th overall pick in this year’s draft, Marko Simonovic of the Chicago Bulls, the 44th pick in the 2020 draft and Trendon Watford of the Portland Trail Blazers, undrafted last season, like Wigginton.

Wigginton averaged 18.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 steals, solid numbers, but like Mamukelashvili, 4.2 turnovers per game are a blemish that cannot be ignored and must be remedied should the opportunity arise for playing time in the NBA this season for Wigginton.

Like Mamukelashvili, Wigginton put on a strong display during the second game of the summer against the Boston Celtics, scoring 24 points on very efficient 8-of-13 shooting from the floor while adding five assists and five rebounds. Wigginton’s other strong game, likely the one that put him on the radar for an All Summer League Team, was his performance against the Dallas Mavericks summer league team where Wigginton dropped 25 points, four assists and played hounding defense to the tune of three steals. Wigginton shot 8-of-14 in the game, again showing efficiency in his scoring. Wigginton finished shooting 53.7 percent on field goals and 46.2 percent on 3-point attempts during the five game summer schedule.
