The cons of Bleacher Report’s Bojan Bogdanovic trade for Milwaukee Bucks

Switching over to the other side of the coin, there are some reasons why the Milwaukee Bucks could be justifiably hesitant to make this deal.

Despite missing a significant chunk of last season due to an abrupt back injury, Brook Lopez is still an incredibly valuable piece to this team. The big man has transformed into an outstanding interior defender since coming to the Bucks, and the protection he provides at the hoop has been among a handful of reasons why this team has ranked among the best defensive units in the league. Losing him would be a sizeable blow for the Bucks, and replacing the defensive excellence that Lopez provides at the center position would be a tall order for the front office. While he may be passable, Bogdanovic himself is also not an outstanding defender.

In addition to trading a valuable contributor in Lopez, the inclusion of Milwaukee’s first round pick in 2029 makes this a steep package for Bogdanovic. Due to various trades over the last few years, the Bucks are incredibly short on draft capital at the moment, so sending out that pick could be a tough pill to swallow unless it was for a borderline star. Bogdanovic is a great player and would fit in well with the Bucks, but trading away a key starter and one of the few draft picks that the team still has in their possession would be a hefty price to pay.
