Grading Jordan Nwora’s new two-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks
If the Milwaukee Bucks are fine with upping their tax bill, which they signaled they are by signing Jordan Nwora, then this deal is fine.
First and foremost, Milwaukee’s lack of wing depth was a glaring issue last season, so it does not hurt to stock up on depth at the position. On the floor, there will be an opportunity for Nwora, and if he can take advantage of it, this signing could look a lot different in a few months. It will be interesting watching Nwora and rookie MarJon Beauchamp compete for playing time. Only time will tell, but if Nwora has taken some strides this offseason, he has a chance to become a legitimate piece in Mike Budenholzer’s rotation. Given how much money the Bucks have invested at the top of their roster, getting some help from a piece like Nwora would be significant. However, this is the third year in a row where that has been said, and many Bucks fans have grown impatient.
If all else fails, Nwora’s contract becomes trade eligible on December 26. The front office is not shy about making moves, so if the forward does not meet expectations, general manager Jon Horst could explore trade scenarios. That was almost certainly something that went into the thought process with this deal. While there has been a lot of talk about trading Nwora since this deal was announced, who knows, perhaps this will finally be the year that the second round pick unearths some of that potential he has displayed at times. This is a team that would benefit mightily from developing some of their youth, and all eyes will be on Nwora this season.
