Milwaukee Bucks preseason positives after two games: Jevon Carter
Jevon Carter joined the Milwaukee Bucks mid-season last year and while he definitely was a solid pickup, Bucks fans always wanted to see one of our backup guards provide a spark off of the bench. As George Hill is getting older and has not given the same production as he did the first stint with the Bucks, Coach Bud may be looking for a younger guard to lead the second unit. Carter seems like he can embrace that role and play to the standard that Bucks fans expect.
While the guard has mostly been known as a defensive specialist in his NBA career, Thursday he looked like he was ready to take the next step. Carter was the second leading scorer on the team behind Antetokounmpo, adding 17 points, while shooting 5-6 from beyond the arc. It may be worth noting that in 20 games with the Bucks, Carter made 55.8 percent of his 3-pointers.
Carter isn’t typically known for his scoring ability, averaging 4.4 points in his career, but he has a chance to prove otherwise this season when Holiday is resting. If Carter can continue to score the ball like he did in the second preseason game along with his stellar defense, Coach Budenholzer will have no choice but to find more minutes for Carter.
