The case for Eric Gordon being the Milwaukee Bucks’ preferred target

While Milwaukee’s rumored interest in Crowder made sense from the get-go, it was a bit more of a surprise when Marc Stein (Subscription required) reported they were looking into Gordon.

Gordon is not the defensive stalwart Crowder is known to be, as his appeal comes from the other side of the basketball. The veteran has proven to be one of the better bench players in the NBA in recent memory, having won the Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2016-17. Gordon has provided an enormous spark offensively wherever he has gone, having averaged 16.2 points per contest while shooting 36.9 percent from three for his career.

For a Milwaukee team that has struggled to keep their offense rolling at times, adding a top-notch reserve like Gordon would be justifiable. He would give the Bucks another legitimate scorer who is capable of lessening the load off of the Big 3 at times, while also serving as a reliable shooter from the outside. Alongside Bobby Portis and Pat Connaughton, the swingman would undoubtedly help fortify Milwaukee’s bench brigade with more scoring potential.

In short, Gordon could be a sparkplug for this Milwaukee bench or could even serve as a starter in certain situations.
