After freeing up two roster spots following the 2023 NBA Trade Deadline, the Milwaukee Bucks are expected to survey the market to possibly bring in more help.
The Bucks were briefly linked to point guard Reggie Jackson before he inked a deal for the rest of the season with the Denver Nuggets. Patrick Beverley is a popular name amongst the fanbase, as the guard is currently looking for a new home after being bought out by the Orlando Magic. Those are two of the big names in what is shaping up to be a solid buyout market. Though Beverley may make the most sense for the Bucks, there are some other dark horse targets out there who could appeal to the team. With that said, here are three targets who fit the description.
3 Potential dark horse buyout targets for the Milwaukee Bucks – Sandro Mamukelashvili
The Bucks could use another big body for depth purposes. Once Serge Ibaka and the team agreed to keep him out of the lineup while they looked for a trade partner, Milwaukee’s center depth was thinned out. Bobby Portis going down with an MCL sprain did not help matters. If the Bucks are in the market for another big, they could stay in-house and promote Sandro Mamukelashvili, who is currently on a two-way deal.
Milwaukee took a similar approach when they signed Mamadi Diakite to a standard contact after he was on a two-way for most of the season a few years ago. It is a nice gesture that also allows two-way players to play in more games, including the postseason. Mamukelashvili’s numbers throughout his first two seasons do not jump off the page, but promoting him on a regular deal would give the Bucks another big man down the stretch.
