An entire fanbase held its breath when Giannis Antetokounmpo exited the Milwaukee Bucks’ recent game against the Chicago Bulls with a wrist injury.

The first updates on the injury were positive, as Coach Mike Budenholzer stated that the x-ray results came back clean. Given that Antetokounmpo got injured in Milwaukee’s last game before the All-Star break, it was unclear how much he would participate in the festivities. He ended up not participating in the Skills Challenge alongside his brothers and exited the All-Star Game after dunking the ball in the opening few seconds. It was better for Antetokounmpo not to risk further injuring his wrist, especially with the latest updates on the situation.

According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, Antetokounmpo is scheduled to fly to New York to undergo further tests on his injured wrist. With the All-Star break in full swing, the Bucks are set to be off for several days, which will provide Antetokounmpo time to get clarity on the situation. The initial news that there was no break in his wrist is great, but an actual diagnosis is yet to be determined.

It would not be too surprising if Antetokounmpo had to miss some time coming out of the break. The Bucks have always been overly cautious when players get injured, and they will undoubtedly not change their approach with the face of the franchise. Wrist sprains typically take a few weeks to heal, depending on the severity.

If Antetokounmpo misses a few games following the break, it would obviously hurt the Bucks, who are currently in hot pursuit of the Eastern Conference’s top seed. Sitting 0.5 games back of the Boston Celtics, the Bucks were rolling as winners of 12 straight contests before the All-Star break. Nevertheless, adversity is nothing new to this team, as injuries have been a staple for the Bucks this season.

Hopefully these tests reveal some good news for Antetokounmpo. If he has to miss some time to get right, so be it. If so, the Bucks will have to stay afloat without him.

Stay tuned for results on Antetokounmpo’s wrist when they are revealed in the coming days.
