3 Underrated buyout candidates the Milwaukee Bucks should consider
By Corey Moen
With the NBA buyout market ending on March 1, who can the Bucks add to the roster to fill that last roster spot? Milwaukee recently signed Meyers Leonard to a 10-day contract to solidify their big-man rotation. Bobby Portis has been out with a knee injury but is expected to return soon. Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss a few games with a wrist injury, and Jae Crowder hasn’t made his debut for the Bucks yet.
Whoever Milwaukee adds likely won’t see a massive role as the rotations are set for the regular season and postseason, but filling out the roster is important for depth purposes. Who should the Bucks add to the roster? Here are three underrated options.
3 underrated buyout candidates the Bucks should consider- Tony Bradley
A first-round draft pick in 2017, Tony Bradley has bounced around the league but can provide depth for a contending team. At 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot-5 wingspan, Bradley can rebound and defend all five positions. He is a well-traveled NBA player.
Bradley last played for the Chicago Bulls, and while he didn’t get many opportunities in Chicago, he played well in limited action. Bradley isn’t known for his scoring but plays solid defense and would fill in that third-string center spot nicely.
Bradley isn’t a guy who needs a ton of minutes a night to be effective, and with Milwaukee having a lot of bigs on the roster, it’s going to be hard-pressed for Bradley to find minutes but can fill in on mop-up duty.
Milwaukee likes to add younger players to fill out the roster spots. Two years ago, the team had Mamadi Diakite and Justin Jackson; that would likely be the role for Bradley; a guy who won’t see much game action but fills out the bench can be a part of the scout team and be a guy who you can plug in for defensive purposes if needed.
It will be interesting to see if Milwaukee decides to add another guy to the frontcourt.
