As the NBA buyout market deadline nears, the Milwaukee Bucks are still looking to fill their last roster spot. The recent signing of Meyers Leonard on a 10-day contract helps bolster their big-man rotation, but if the Bucks are looking to add a 3-point specialist to the team then maybe the answer is already in the building.

23-year-old A.J. Green was signed to a two-way contract at the start of July 2022 and has shown glimpses of how he could prove to be a valuable piece for the Bucks as they enter the final stretch of the season.

Here are three reasons why the Bucks should sign A.J. Green to a standard contract.

3 Reasons the Milwaukee Bucks should sign A.J. Green – He’s a 3-Point specialist

Having spent four years at the University of Northern Iowa and going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, the reason for a team like the Bucks to pick him up was obvious: His 3-point shooting.

Per Basketball Reference, Green currently leads the Bucks in 3-point percentage at 42 percent. A look at his best performances this season shows the majority of his shots are threes, but more importantly, he is hitting them consistently.

He has achieved his season-high 15 points in games against the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls; he only scored on 3-point shots in both games. He shot 5-of-10 from 3-point land against the Heat. In the final game before the All-Star break, Green shot 5-of-7 on the road against the Bulls.

In 14 of his 26 appearances for the Bucks, he has hit at least one three, and in 10 of those games, he has hit two or more from 3-point range. According to NBA.com/stats, Green is currently shooting 48.3 percent on his catch-and-shoot 3-pointers, showing he is a reliable set of hands for the Bucks and may be useful during the Bucks’ final 24 games before the postseason commences.

The answer to the Bucks adding a 3-point specialist may be closer than they realize.
