After moving George Hill at the 2023 NBA Trade Deadline, many speculated whether or not the Milwaukee Bucks would add a third-string point guard, and it appears they are trying.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks are the current frontrunners to sign veteran point guard Goran Dragic, who was recently waived by the Chicago Bulls. Woj added that Dragic is set to visit the Bucks on March 3, and a deal could be completed that same day. This is certainly an interesting development as the Bucks look to fill out their roster ahead of the 2023 postseason.
Reaction to the Milwaukee Bucks’ interest in signing Goran Dragic
The Bucks’ interest in Dragic is not new. They were heavily interested in him last season before he signed with the Brooklyn Nets. Ironically, the Nets waived Jevon Carter to sign Dragic, and the two will now potentially be in Milwaukee’s backcourt together. With Dragic on the market again, it makes sense that the Bucks would look to add him via one of their current open roster spots.
Adding a third point guard is not a bad idea for Milwaukee. Dragic likely would not get heavy time in Milwaukee’s rotation, but he could be utilized at times. Having another experienced point guard who can handle the ball and shoot the three will never be a bad thing. With 60 career postseason games under his belt, which includes a trip to the NBA Finals in 2020, Dragic would provide more veteran experience and grit to this veteran-oriented Milwaukee Bucks roster down the stretch.
On the floor, Dragic did not have his greatest year in Chicago, having averaged a mere 6.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 1.4 rebounds per game, but as a third-string point guard, there are few names out there currently better than Dragic. He’d be a fine addition to this bench brigade as the team looks to solidify its backcourt depth. He’d been a thorn in the Bucks’ side for quite a while, so it would be interesting to see him on their side for a change.
Stay tuned to see if Dragic ultimately does land with the Bucks in the coming days.
