The Milwaukee Bucks have officially signed Goran Dragic to a deal for the remainder of the season to shore up their backcourt depth.

Dragic is the latest addition to the Bucks that the front office has brought into the mix in what has been quite a mid-season roster reconstruction. The Bucks were in need of a third point guard after sending George Hill to the Indiana Pacers at the NBA trade deadline, and Dragic will fill that hole right away. With that said, let us look at Milwaukee’s updated depth chart following the move to bring in Dragic.

An updated look at the Milwaukee Bucks’ depth chart with Goran Dragic

  • Point guard – Jrue Holiday, Jevon Carter, Goran Dragic
  • Shooting guard – Pat Connaughton, Wesley Matthews, A.J. Green, MarJon Beauchamp
  • Small forward – Grayson Allen, Khris Middleton, Jae Crowder, Thanasis Antetokounmpo
  • Power forward – Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joe Ingles
  • Center – Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Meyers Leonard

As highlighted previously, Dragic will now command the role of Milwaukee’s third-string point guard. When Jrue Holiday and Jevon Carter need a breather, Dragic can handle the basketball in spurts and orchestrate the offense. While Carter is known for his tremendous defense, Dragic is more of a traditional point guard due to his scoring, shooting, and passing, so there will be some variety between the two, which could make for interesting lineup combinations.

Milwaukee’s three-man point guard rotation is beyond solid. They have an All-Star leading the way in Holiday, a defensive menace who is currently putting up career highs offensively in Carter, and a quality veteran with plenty of battle-tested experience under his belt in Dragic. It would not be too surprising to see some combination of these three on the court simultaneously situationally, as it is well-known that Coach Mike Budenholzer likes his two-point guard lineups.

Overall, this is a great signing to add another household name to Milwakee’s backcourt depth.

Milwaukee’s roster currently stands at 14 standard players, one 10-day deal, and a two-way deal. The Bucks will still have to determine what they want to do with Meyers Leonard and who will be their other two-way player alongside A.J. Green.

Stay tuned to see what General Manager Jon Horst has in store as he finishes tuning up the roster.
