The Milwaukee Bucks have officially signed Lindell Wigginton to a two-way contract.
The Athletic’s Erich Nehm was the first to report on the signing as Wigginton takes the 17th and final spot on the Bucks roster.
Having released Sandro Mamukelashvili last week, the Bucks had a slot open for a two-way player and Wigginton will add to the guard depth along with recent signing Goran Dragic. It is now the second spell for the 6-foot-2 guard with the Bucks as a two-way player, having appeared in 19 games in the 2021-22 season.
Reaction to the Bucks signing Lindell Wigginton to a two-way deal
Wigginton was very impressive during his time in Milwaukee last season. In his19 appearances last year, he averaged 4.2 points with a rebound and assist to go with his 10 minutes per game. His most notable performance was in the final regular season game against the Cleveland Cavaliers when he scored 18 points and had eight assists to his name.
He will add to the Bucks’ guard rotation, giving them an extra body behind Jrue Holiday, Jevon Carter and Dragic should any of these players miss games down the stretch in preparation for the postseason. Similarly fellow two-way player A.J. Green, it is unlikely that Wigginton will take minutes away from other players but can be used on nights when players are missing and has shown both with the Bucks last season and with the Herd that he has the quality to score from beyond the arc.
Per the G-League, he is averaging 21.5 points, 5.6 assists, and a steal-per-game, all while shooting 44.1 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from three. The Bucks have been on fire from three as of late and adding Wigginton only helps bolster their shooting prowess.
Another positive about this signing is that Wigginton has been around the locker room. His time last season with the majority of the roster and coaching staff means there will be no issue with him being accustomed to his surroundings and will slot in nicely as a piece of the bench mob.
We knew the team was going to fill that final two-way spot, and Wigginton was an excellent candidate. He deserves another opportunity to show the Bucks what he can do, and we are excited to see it.
Stay tuned to see how Wigginton is incorporated into the Bucks’ rotation.
