Who should the Milwaukee Bucks sign with their final roster spot?
By Dalton Sell
After signing Goran Dragic to a deal for the remainder of the season, the Milwaukee Bucks roster now stands at 14 standard players.
The team is allowed to hand out one more standard contract, and while they are not required to do so, it seems somewhat likely that they will. As highlighted in last season’s playoff run, a team can never have too much depth, so the Bucks would be wise to fill that spot if they have the chance to do so. If they are weighing their options, the Bucks will have no shortage of options to consider for the vacancy. With that said, let us look at some of the options for the front office.
Who should the Milwaukee Bucks sign with their final roster spot? – The case for Meyers Leonard
In need of some center depth, the Bucks recently signed Meyers Leonard to a 10-day deal before handing him a second 10-day deal. If the Bucks want to keep the center around beyond this deal, they will have to hand him a standard contract for the remainder of the season. Keeping Leonard in Milwaukee for the next few months could make some sense for several reasons.
The Bucks do need some added depth at the center position, which is the thinnest position on the roster right now. Behind Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, and Leonard, the Bucks do not have another center. Even if Leonard’s role is not massive, keeping him around as an insurance policy would not be the worst idea, given those circumstances.
On the floor, Leonard has not dazzled, having averaged just 2.8 points and two rebounds in his five appearances with the Bucks thus far. His minutes have not been high, having averaged a mere 6.8 in his Bucks tenure, but he’s shown that he can shoot the long ball well as a seven-footer and haul in rebounds well enough. For a Bucks team that could use one more center, Leonard would be fine as the 15th man on the roster.
