A 60-win season is still a possibility for the Milwaukee Bucks
By Jerry Tapp
Despite a 23-point road loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday evening, the Milwaukee Bucks still have a chance of winning 60 games this season. They must win seven of their last eight games to reach 60 wins for the season. The Bucks are the only NBA team that still has a chance at winning 60 games.
The Bucks have eight games on the schedule, four at home and four on the road. The last eight games: at Detroit, at Indiana, home against Boston, home against Philadelphia, away against Washington, home versus the Bulls, home against Memphis, and a season-ending road game against Toronto.
The last time the Milwaukee Bucks won 60 games in a season
The last NBA team to win 60 games in a season was last year when the Phoenix Suns ended the 2021-22 campaign with a 64-18 record. The last time the Bucks had a 60-win season was in 2018-19, when they went 60-22.
Milwaukee is one of only five franchises to win 60 games in five or more seasons. The Bucks won 60 or more games in 1970-71 (66), 1971-72 (63), 1972-73 (60), 1980-81 (60), and the aforementioned 2018-19 season. Of those five 60-win seasons, the only time they advanced to the NBA Finals was in 1970-71 when they won the NBA title. In 1971-72 and 2018-19, those Bucks’ teams lost in the conference finals; the 1972-73 and 1980-81 teams lost in the conference semifinals.

How many 60-win teams won the title that year?
Of the 78 teams that have won 60 games in a season, 28 won the NBA championship that season. The last team to do that was the Golden State Warriors. They won 67 games in 2016-17, the same year they won the NBA title. Three teams since 2016-17 won 60 games but did not win the title that year: Houston (65 wins in 2017-18), Milwaukee (20 wins in 2018-19), and Phoenix (64 wins in 2021-22).
It will be interesting to see if the Bucks can hit the mark down the stretch.
