Jrue Holiday vs. De’Aaron Fox
Spoiler Alert: If I had an All-NBA vote this season, De’Aaron Fox would make it.
The former fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft is having a legit breakout season for the Sacramento Kings. He’s posting a career-high in points per game at 25.2 and has been a major factor in one of the best stories this NBA season. Fox is shooting a career-high 51 percent from the field, which for a point guard, is absolutely prolific.
Fox has also been money in the clutch as well, which could very well earn him the NBA Clutch Player of the Year Award at the end of the season. Fox has also led the Kings to their first playoff appearance in 16 years, which was also the longest drought in all of the four major professional sports leagues in the U.S. All of this makes an All-NBA selection a slam dunk for Fox, in my opinion.
When it comes to the comparison of Holiday and Fox, look no further than the defense of Holiday once again. Fox’s defensive rating is similar to Brunson’s at 117.2, which also would put him outside the top 20 among NBA guards. It’s no secret that The Kings have a below-average defense while the Bucks have one of the best in the league, so the defense of these guards correlates to their overall team defense as well.
In conclusion, this year’s All-NBA selections at the guard position will be very interesting. There are so many talented guards this season that a player will definitely feel snubbed. Here are my guard selections if I had a vote:
1st Team: Stephen Curry & James Harden
2nd Team: Donovan Mitchell & De’Aaron Fox
3rd Team: Devin Booker & Jrue Holiday
Jrue Holiday has been the biggest acquisition in Milwaukee Bucks history. I believe another championship along with an All-NBA selection would make him one of the best trade pieces in NBA History as well. If he is selected on the All-NBA Team this season; I’m calling him “All-NBA Holiday” from now on.
Stay tuned for more Milwaukee Bucks analysis.
