5 NBA free agent targets under 30 the Milwaukee Bucks should go after
By Dalton Sell
Throughout the course of the 2022-23 NBA season, Milwaukee Bucks fans expressed their major concerns with the age of the roster, which was the oldest in the league.
Ultimately, age proved to be a factor to a degree in Milwaukee’s playoff demise, as Miami’s hustle and athleticism were two factors the Bucks lacked. One of the major priorities for the Bucks during the off-season should be adding younger players to the roster. This team needs athleticism and an assortment of players who have an abundance of energy. While the Bucks will not have the most spending money or assets to utilize to get these players, there are still several who they could land in the off-season. With that said, let us look at five free agent targets under 30 for the Bucks.
1 – Lonnie Walker IV
After signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers last off-season, Lonnie Walker IV made a name for himself with some strong play. However, after a busy trade deadline for the Lakers, the young guard was booted from LA’s rotation and hasn’t played much since. The 24-year-old will be on the move again this offseason in all likelihood, and the Milwaukee Bucks should inquire about his services as they look to improve their backcourt and add youth.
The best way to describe Walker is that he’s a pure athlete. He can get up and down the floor in a hurry, and fans always have to keep an eye out for him on a fastbreak due to his dunking ability. A weakness for the Bucks is their inability to attack in transition outside of Giannis Antetokounmpo, so adding in a player like Walker would be of use. Antetokounmpo and Walker fastbreaks could be some must-see television. Defensively, the guard is not outstanding, but he can hold his own. His energy could be a huge lift for this team, as he’s a competitor whenever he’s on the floor.
In short, if Walker is available on a low-cost deal this off-season, the Milwaukee Bucks should look to bring in the athletic shooting guard.
