How many Milwaukee Bucks should be untouchable in 2023 off-season?

Following a horrific collapse in the NBA Playoffs, the Milwaukee Bucks have turned their attention to the off-season, which will be the longest they’ve experienced in a long time.

However, the front office has not wasted any time making moves, as they have already dismissed Mike Budenholzer as head coach. More changes are bound to come in Milwaukee, which begs the question as to which players should and should not be untouchable when it comes to trades.

How many Milwaukee Bucks should be untouchable in 2023 off-season?

After the effort that was put forth in the postseason, there is currently one player on Milwaukee’s roster who is untouchable, which is Giannis Antetokounmpo. He remains the greatest player in the entire NBA in the eyes of many; the Bucks will look to build around him rather than trade him. That means the rest of the roster should be brought up in trade talks if necessary.

Among Milwaukee’s best trade assets are Bobby Portis, MarJon Beauchamp, and Grayson Allen. Yet, the most coveted of them all is undeniably Jrue Holiday. The veteran point guard is coming off an All-Star campaign in 2022-23, and his value is undeniably high; plenty of teams would love to get their hands on him. The Bucks will likely not be trading Holiday away unless they are getting a surefire upgrade. It seems unlikely that Milwaukee lands another star, but nothing is impossible.

Those other three names just mentioned, along with Pat Connaughton, remain far more likely to be traded. Portis, Allen, and Connaughton are all solid veteran rotation players who have salaries that would be useful for making impactful moves. It would be tough to trade Beauchamp, as he is among the few young players on an aging roster, but he’s certainly not off the table entirely. Any of these four could be moved this off-season in the right package, in all likelihood.

This is a crucial off-season for the Bucks. Not only do they need to hire their coach of the future, but they also need to make some tweaks to this roster, especially as it pertains to adding youth. That could require parting ways with some fan favorites. It will be fascinating to see how Jon Horst and company handle the off-season decisions in Milwaukee.
