The Milwaukee Bucks have been exploring the market for their next head coach, and over the past few days, a plethora of candidates have surfaced.
Among the bunch is Tyronn Lue, as Yahoo! Sports’ insider Jake Fischer has reported that the Bucks have Lue on their radar. Lue is currently employed by the LA Clippers, but that will seemingly not stop the Bucks from at least monitoring his situation. Out of all of the rumored candidates, Lue is the most desirable for many Bucks fans, and there are two key reasons why.
2 reasons the Milwaukee Bucks should be all in on Tyronn Lue as coach
First and foremost, Lue has a hefty amount of experience, having coached the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2016-20 and the Clippers from 2020 to the present. Lue won a title with the Cavaliers during the 2015-16 season and followed that up with two more trips to the NBA Finals. Lue is a winner, and the Bucks need a coach with that attribute. Though the Bucks have been linked to quite a few potential first-year coaches, there is some risk in that due to the inexperience, so a made man like Lue would be a safer bet.
In addition to his winning ways and experience, another reason Lue should be atop Milwaukee’s wishlist is his ability to make adjustments. During a 2021-22 survey done by NBA.com, Lue was the runaway first-place selection for which coach makes the best in-game adjustments. It was no secret that the Bucks’ adjustments were a major issue throughout the Mike Budenholzer era, and getting one of the best in-game adjustment makers in the business would undoubtedly help as a new era in Milwaukee begins.
Given that Lue is employed, it’s currently a stretch that the Bucks could pry him away from his job, but it’s not impossible. If there’s any chance they could get him on the sidelines next season, it is worth exploring. His experience and adjustment-making make him the perfect fit for the Bucks. It will be interesting to see whether or not Milwaukee’s interest remains just interest or if it develops into something more.
