The Milwaukee Bucks truly want to do their due diligence league-wide as they search for their next head coach, as their list of candidates is growing rapidly.
The latest name added to the mix is Chris Quinn, who is currently an assistant on the Miami Heat. Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Bucks have been given permission to interview Quinn, who has emerged as a coaching candidate in several recent openings.
Reaction to the Bucks interviewing Heat’s Chris Quinn for coaching job
Quinn is certainly an interesting name among the bunch. First off, he’s been an assistant with the Heat since 2014 and has been the right-hand man for Head Coach Erik Spoelstra. Anyone coming from the Spoelstra tree is an interesting candidate, as he’s undeniably one of the best coaches in the entire business. The former NBA player has seemingly learned a lot from Spoelstra over the years, as Heat lifer Udonis Haslem previously had this to say about Quinn:
"“When you listen to Quinny, you’re hearing Spo. It’s the same message.” Haslem added, “He has the knowledge, the experience, the relationship with the players. He has every base covered when you talk about checking the boxes to have the ability to be a successful head coach.”"
While those are certainly some encouraging words, it should not be ignored that Quinn has not had a head coaching job previously. Like Charles Lee and Adrian Griffin, who are also candidates for this job, there would be some risk in the Bucks hiring a first-year head coach due to their lack of experience in that seat. However, out of all of the potential first-year coaches the Bucks have been linked to, Quinn has to be the most captivating.
At the moment, it looks like Monty Williams is the frontrunner for the job, but it would not be too surprising if Quinn’s name quickly starts to rise in the ranks. The Bucks’ search for their new head coach is certainly starting to get interesting, and things will not be slowing down anytime soon. While he faces plenty of competition, Chris Quinn is a name to keep a close eye on here.
