3 Trade targets for the Milwaukee Bucks with ties to Coach Adrian Griffin
2 – Gary Trent Jr., Toronto Raptors
Another Raptors player that the Milwaukee Bucks could potentially trade for is guard Gary Trent Jr. His name was heavily rumored to be traded before the deadline due to his ability to score the ball from all levels and be a key rotation player for a contending team.
He was traded to Toronto in the 2020-21 season and has known Griffin for a number of years. This past season he was putting up 17 points on 43 percent from the field and hitting 2.5 threes per game. It is clear to see why teams were looking to make a move for him, but clearly, no offers met the value that the Raptors have for him.
Again, similarly to VanVleet, he has a player option for this coming season at $18.5m, so this would make it slightly easier to make a move for him, but if the possibility is there to get VanVleet, he is the clear better player. Similarly to his teammate, the Milwaukee Bucks would not be able to perform a sign and trade to acquire him, so would hope that he picks up that player option and then declare their interest from there.
One point previously made for the new-look Bucks is that the roster needs to get younger, and in this case, Trent Jr., at 24 years old, would be a valuable pickup now for Milwaukee, but alongside Griffin, would be a huge part of the Milwaukee Bucks team moving forward.
