Jevon Carter signs with the Bulls: Reaction and Analysis for Bucks
By Dalton Sell
The start of 2023 NBA Free Agency is here, and the Milwaukee Bucks have lost a key member of last season’s roster.
According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Jevon Carter is signing a new three-year deal worth $20 million with the Chicago Bulls. After a season and a half in Milwaukee, Carter will find himself a new home just down the road in Chicago with a prominent Central Division rival.
Jevon Carter signs with the Bulls: Reaction and Analysis for Bucks
It’s not too shocking that Carter signed elsewhere in free agency, especially with such a nice offer on the table. On top of that, the role is there for Carter. Chicago’s Lonzo Ball is expected to miss a significant chunk of next season, leaving the team’s point guard room thin. Now, Carter has a key opportunity to potentially be a full-time starter for the first time in his NBA career. It’s good to see Carter cash out after rejuvenating his career with Milwaukee during his brief stint in town.
For the Bucks, they are now left without a backup point guard. There will be several names for the front office to pursue, and among the most prominent candidates will likely be Derrick Rose. It’s been reported by Marc Stein (subscription required) that the Bucks are expected to be among a handful of teams chasing the former MVP. On a minimum deal, Rose would be a solid piece to bring in to shore up Milwaukee’s point guard depth. Yet, only time will tell what Jon Horst and the rest of the Bucks’ front office are looking to do.
It was short, but Carter was certainly a fan favorite in Milwaukee due to his hustle and defensive presence whenever he stepped on the floor. There should be some interesting battles between the Milwaukee Bucks and Chicago Bulls next season.
This just in: ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has reported that Khris Middleton will return to the Bucks on a new three-year deal. More on that in a minute from Behind the Buck Pass.
