Milwaukee Bucks: Predicting AJ Green’s stats for the 2023-24 NBA season

While his role was not prominent throughout the 2022-23 NBA season, undrafted guard AJ Green flashed some nice potential when given the opportunity with the Milwaukee Bucks.

As the Bucks seem to be embracing their youth more under Coach Adrian Griffin, Green may see a more significant role in 2023-24. The sophomore guard might not be an essential contributor for a Milwaukee team that is still mostly comprised of veterans, but he can certainly get on the floor for the Bucks at times. With that said, let us predict his 2023-24 stat line.

2022-23 stat line: 4.4 points, 42.4 percent field goal shooting, 41.9 percent 3-point shooting, 100 percent free throw shooting, 1.3 rebounds, 0.6 assists in 9.9 minutes per game.

2023-24 Prediction: 7.4 points, 43.5 percent field goal shooting, 40.4 percent 3-point shooting, 85 percent free throw shooting, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 15.2 minutes per game.

The biggest objective for Green will be establishing himself as a consistent outside shooter for the Milwaukee Bucks. He was excellent last season, but it wasn’t the largest sample size. This year, he will likely play a larger role, with his minutes to increase by nearly six per game, and if he can stick around above 40 percent from the perimeter, his impact could be huge.

Green’s defense will likely be the biggest obstacle for him to overcome. At 6-foot-4, 200lbs, he’s a solidly-built guard, but he’s not the most athletic, which can be troublesome in today’s league as it pertains to defense. If Green can overcome his deficiencies and become an impact defender in any capacity, his minutes could surely see a spike. For now, they’ll stick around 15.2 per contest.

It should be noted that this is a prediction for AJ Green’s number with the roster as it is currently constructed. With Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton, Malik Beasley, MarJon Beauchamp, and more players currently in the wing rotation, Green will have to fight for his minutes. However, if a trade were to be made to move some of the wings, Green’s production could certainly increase.

All in all, Green’s prediction might not be the flashiest, but he could undeniably have an impact for the Milwaukee Bucks due to his sweet perimeter shooting.
