When it was announced that the Milwaukee Bucks signed Malik Beasley to a one-year deal in 2023 NBA Free Agency, many fans were surprised.

Despite coming off of a poor playoff showing with the Los Angeles Lakers, Beasley signing for a minimum deal was quite a shock. Nevertheless, that’s a major win for the Bucks, who landed an excellent young wing for cheap. Whether he’s starting or coming off of the bench, the two-guard is expected to play a key role for the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2023-24 NBA season.

Predicting Malik Beasley’s stats for the Bucks during 2023-24 NBA season

2023-24 Prediction: 12.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 41.1 percent field goal shooting, 38.7 percent 3-point shooting, 81.5 percent free throw shooting, 0.7 steals, 0.2 blocks, 25.2 minutes.

Beasley is a bit of a tricky one to predict, as it’s unclear whether or not he’ll start or come off of the bench. For now, one could assume he will be a reserve behind Grayson Allen.

When Beasley takes the floor, he will be tasked with providing more 3-point shooting and scoring. Alongside great facilitators such as Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holiday, he should be able to capitalize on an abundance of open looks. The Bucks have lacked a consistent scoring punch in the second unit for years, and Beasley has a chance to change that.

Aside from scoring and shooting, Beasley doesn’t provide much else. That’s not a knock on him or his playstyle, as he’s simply a perimeter specialist; think of an upgraded version of Bryn Forbes or 2019-20 Kyle Korver. He’ll get the occasional rebound, assist, or steal, but if he knocks down his outside shots and puts points on the board, it will help this Milwaukee team tremendously.

The biggest factor in how big Beasley’s role will be is his defense. He’s never been an upstanding player on defense, which could prove problematic when opposing scorers look to take advantage of him. If the 6-foot-4 wing can at least be competent on the defensive end and hold his own, he could see more and more time as the season progresses.
