Grade the Trade: Bucks add former top-five pick in trade with Magic
By Corey Moen
There is no chance of this trade coming to fruition.
The Bucks, while they have been open to giving up draft picks, won’t be giving up assets to a relative unknown.
Suggs was highly touted coming out of Gonzaga but hasn’t been able to stay healthy, and with Milwaukee’s team being guard-heavy, it would be the same situation for Suggs as it is in Orlando.
The trade desire for Collin Sexton had the same drawbacks. A talented player but hasn’t been able to consistently stay healthy. Suggs brings those same red flags and wouldn’t be an upgrade over the guys currently on the team.
Connaughton is also one of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s favorite teammates, so would they risk alienating their franchise player for a player who might be talented? Probably not.
Suggs could fill an immediate need as a backup point guard, but I just don’t see how giving up Connaughton and draft picks for Jalen Suggs would be a good deal for the Bucks. Suggs is a low priority for the Bucks to go after in a trade and it wouldn’t be a great move in the long run.
