1. Denver Nuggets – Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon

On paper, I could have so easily put the Suns atop this list, but how can you look past the reigning champions? The Denver Nuggets’ trio has it all. Nikola Jokic is the best player in the league, Jamal Murray was superb in the postseason, and Aaron Gordon is at an All-Star level. Yet he and Murray somehow still haven’t ticked that accolade off.

They function so well together, and that is why they won the chip. Jokic’s ability to finish on all three levels and then of course his elite playmaking is what sets him apart from any other big man to play the game, but with Murray, who can do it all as a combo guard, and Gordon, who is a great versatile defender who we know what he can do when attacking the basket.

Another reason they are top is that none of the three should take a step back next season. Jokic is 28, Gordon 27, and Murray still just 25. Looking at other team’s trios on the list, players are in their 30s and may slightly regress. They are poised to win the title again, which will of course be tough, but with what they showed in the playoffs, I don’t think there isn’t a reason that they can’t do so.

Overall, I found it hard to look past the reigning champs for the top spot, but we will see come October. There is always a twist, and we may see some big names moved and team up with other stars to go for that ultimate goal.
