The Milwaukee Bucks suffered a big loss mid-season when it was announced that Bobby Portis was set to miss 25 games due to a suspension.
To make matters worse, Jericho Sims, who briefly provided some relief in the frontcourt to fill the void left in Portis' absence, also became sidelined after suffering a thumb injury. After countless weeks of using makeshift lineups to make sure the Milwaukee Bucks had some size on the court, they are set to welcome Portis back into the lineup in their next game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Portis seems fired up about the opportunity.
Bobby Portis' return should help the Milwaukee Bucks
Paired with a hype video to mark his return, Portis posted the following message on X: "Mark 9:23 - Everything is possible for him who believes! BOBBY’S BACK! "

Bobby Portis has almost certainly been marking off the days on the calendar. Love him or hate him, the big man loves playing basketball for the Milwaukee Bucks, and they need his energetic presence more than ever right now. He will undeniably be motivated to get back on the court and get back to making a difference after a reported mix-up that led to his suspension in the first place.
Simply having another big body available will make life easier for countless parties. Doc Rivers can finally turn to another legitimate center when crafting his lineups. Giannis Antetokounmpo and new Buck Kyle Kuzma can play their standard positions more. Brook Lopez won't have to serve as the lone true center on the roster. There may finally be a sense of normalcy at the Bucks' center spot.
Prior to the suspension, Portis was averaging 13.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per contest. The Milwaukee Bucks will certainly welcome the big man's scoring and rebounding in the second unit. Furthermore, his sheer intensity could give the Bucks a jolt at times. Without him, there have been a handful of stretches where it feels like the team is devoid of any fire, and Bobby Portis can help.
Having missed 25 games, the big man will almost certainly be rusty. With four regular-season games left on the schedule, he won't have much time to find his footing before the postseason. Time will tell how things pan out in that regard, but it's nice to have Bobby Portis back in the lineup after such an up-and-down stretch since the sixth man was suspended back in February.
