The Milwaukee Bucks seem like they are about to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo. And one of the top suitors is the Boston Celtics, meaning Jaylen Brown could be in Milwaukee soon. But not for long. The Bucks would reportedly flip him to a third team, and the Houston Rockets may have the most intriguing package.
So, the Bucks better hope that Brown still has a good relationship with Rockets head coach Ime Udoka. Because if he does, perhaps the Rockets will gun harder to be the third team in a Brown trade. Milwaukee could get some great draft capital back for Brown, as well as some interesting young talent.
It may make the whole ordeal worth it.
Bucks should trade Jaylen Brown to Rockets (if they get a Giannis deal done with the Celtics)
Should the Bucks go through with the offer from Boston, they would likely get back Brown, a young player, and draft capital from the Celtics. Then, they could flip Brown for more assets.
Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that three of the teams that are interested in potentially trading for Brown are the Rockets, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Portland Trail Blazers.
The Hawks could provide the Bucks with a decent package. Dyson Daniels, Zaccharie Risacher, and some picks, perhaps. Plus, the Bucks’ own pick back (or the No. 8 pick in this year’s draft).
The Blazers could give up Jerami Grant, Scoot Henderson, and Milwaukee’s future picks back. Getting their own picks back would be very intriguing for the Bucks.
But despite the fact that Atlanta and Portland could both give them that, the Rockets’ trade package for Brown may be even better than the Bucks getting their own picks back.
First and foremost, the Bucks could ask for the Rockets’ right to swap first-round picks with the Brooklyn Nets next season. Immediately, getting the better of the Rockets’ and Nets’ selections is extremely intriguing because the Nets probably won’t be very good.
Plus, if you’re betting on the Brown-led Hawks, Brown-led Blazers, or Brown-led Rockets to be mid a few years from now (if you trade for a future pick), you should bet on Houston.
The Hawks are in the East. They’ll probably be a playoff team. The Blazers have a great, young core. The Rockets? Question marks. A lack of offense. Can Alperen Sengun lead a team in the playoffs?
And the Rockets' players could be the most interesting, too. Perhaps Sengun? Jabari Smith Jr.? Tari Eason? Reed Sheppard?
Houston has the most interesting trade package if you’re the Bucks. That’s where they should try to reroute Brown.
