Kyle Kuzma exited the Milwaukee Bucks' victory against the Toronto Raptors early due to injury, but all signs point to it not being a long-term issue. Speaking to reporters after the game, Doc Rivers stated that it was an ankle sprain for Kuzma, though it would likely be a day-to-day issue rather than one that lingers for weeks.

"Sprain. Not a bad one. Actually tried to do some running, and then they just pulled him out. Probably day to day."

Bucks need Kuzma back as soon as possible

Kuzma has adapted masterfully to his bench role this season. In his two games, he played as more of a complementary piece rather than a star, and it has fueled his strong play. He's averaged 10 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 60 percent from the floor. That kind of player has made a significant difference for the Milwaukee Bucks off the bench.

It's unfortunate that his early-season momentum may be halted for the time being due to this injury, but again, the hope is that it won't be a long-term issue. The Milwaukee Bucks hope he will pick right back up where he left off upon returning, whenever that may be. If they want to reach their ceiling, the Bucks need Kuzma to make (positive) disruptive plays on both sides of the basketball.

Speaking of bad ankles, things get murkier when discussing Kevin Porter Jr., Milwaukee's point guard, who went down in the first quarter of the season opener with an ankle sprain and does not have a set return date. Just two games into the season, the Bucks have already been struck by the injury bug, sending two crucial pieces to the sidelines. Depth, a new roster strength, must rise.

In Kuzma's absence, however long it may be, Amir Coffey will likely earn some burn to showcase his skills and prove he belongs. The forward did enough to earn his place on the roster in training camp and the preseason, but his minutes have been scarce to this point. It wouldn't be surprising if he got some legitimate time as Rivers tries to survive without Kuzma at his disposal.

This would be a great time for Bobby Portis to show some signs of life as well. The big man has been flat-out bad during these first two games, averaging 6.5 points while shooting 31.6 percent from the floor. Everyone knows he's capable of better production than that, and he will have more touches as Kyle Kuzma sits. This would be a great time to establish some momentum.
