After an eventful 2024-25 NBA season, the Milwaukee Bucks currently have just four players on the payroll heading into the offseason.
Of course, that will all change in a hurry. Whether it's via free agency, the draft or trades, there will be transactions in the coming months. However, before then, let's analyze the current depth chart.
Bucks could use plenty of help heading into the offseason
Point guard: Damian Lillard
Shooting guard: N/A
Small forward: Kyle Kuzma
Power forward: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tyler Smith
Center: N/A
Now, while the depth chart looks pretty bare, the Milwaukee Bucks do have a handful of players set to be on non-guaranteed contracts or have player options.
AJ Green, Andre Jackson Jr. and Chris Livingston have low-cost non-guaranteed deals for next year, and, at the bare minimum, it feels likely that Green and Jackson will be back to give the Bucks a pair of needed bodies at the two. As for player options, Bobby Portis, Pat Connaughton and Kevin Porter Jr. all have to decide if they will come back at their current figure or test the market.
The two positions that will be under a microscope are point guard and center. While Damian Lillard is on the roster, he will more than likely miss a good chunk of next season, if not all of it. That's why the Milwaukee Bucks should aim to retain both Kevin Porter Jr. and Ryan Rollins, while also negotiating with big men Bobby Portis and Jericho Sims as Brook Lopez's future in Milwaukee remains unclear.
Keeping Gary Trent Jr. would also be huge and give the Milwaukee Bucks a player who could very well be their starting two guard of the future.
Kyle Kuzma's offseason status will remain interesting. He's a Buck at the moment, but after how his season ended, it wouldn't be surprising if he got moved. A Kuzma departure could open up room in the forward rotation for Tyler Smith, the soon-to-be sophomore, who is a promising young player the Milwaukee Bucks took in the second round nearly a year ago.
The Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is a Milwaukee Buck until anyone says different, and there is a solid chance he sticks around despite the team's early playoff exit. This franchise certainly hopes he will be on the depth chart for the foreseeable future.
With plenty of newfound flexibility at his disposal, general manager Jon Horst earns the tall task of filling out the rest of this roster in what will be a busy summer for the Milwaukee Bucks.
