Tre Donaldson has a busy few weeks leading up to the 2026 NBA Draft. Seemingly every team wants to get their hands on the Florida guard, with Donaldson working out for an assortment of teams over the next several weeks. The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly among the suitors, but actually getting Donaldson on the roster will be far easier said than done.
Bucks eyeing in demand guard
Per The Athletic staff editor Tobias Bass, Donaldson has completed workouts with the Jazz, Suns, Spurs, Lakers, Warriors, Clippers, and Knicks. He will undergo workouts with the Hornets, Bucks, Heat, Kings, Raptors, Celtics, Pistons, Magic, Nuggets, and Trail Blazers. That's over half the NBA looking into the guard.

The interest is justifiable. During his senior season, Donaldson took notable strides at Florida by averaging 16.4 points, 5.7 assists, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, earning All-ACC honors. Known for his excellent shot-making and strong passing skills, Donaldson has the tools to be a capable second-unit offensive engine while also holding up well enough on the defensive end.
With four years of college experience under his belt, he has the potential to come in right away and be useful to any team that needs guard help off the bench.
Donaldson would fit well in Milwaukee
We've talked plenty about Milwaukee's question marks in the backcourt heading into the offseason. Outside of Ryan Rollins, the team doesn't have a single ball-handling guard on the roster. Whether it comes through the draft, free agency, or trade, this team would be wise to add a guard. It's among the reasons why they have reportedly worked out Alabama's Labaron Philon.
Milwaukee's biggest obstacle in landing the 22-year-old is that they don't have a second rounder, and Donaldson certainly won't be their choice at 10th overall. Their best bet would be hoping he lands in the undrafted pool and chooses to play for them. Given that he has so many other suitors, they would have to make quite the pitch to get his signature, but it's possible.
For all of their drafting flaws, the Milwaukee Bucks have shown that they can identify young talent through other avenues. AJ Green was undrafted. Ryan Rollins was a free agent. Corman Ryan had never earned an NBA opportunity. The Bucks gave all of those players a runway, and they've turned into steady contributors. Donaldson could be next up.
