The Milwaukee Bucks are hoping to have a little luck on their side when the NBA Draft Lottery begins in the coming weeks. They are currently projected to pick 10th but have an opportunity to move up to second if things go their way. The second pick in the draft could go a long way for them and would be quite the conversation-starter league-wide.

Bucks need a little luck on their side

Milwaukee cannot acquire the first overall pick, as the Atlanta Hawks will get the more favorable pick between the Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans. In this dream scenario, the Pelicans' pick lands in the first spot, while the Bucks come in second. The odds are incredibly slim, but nothing is impossible in today's NBA.

Favorable jumps are nothing new in the lottery. Just last summer, the Dallas Mavericks had a mere 1.8 percent chance to grab the top overall pick. They landed it regardless, shockingly jumping ahead by 10 spots to select Cooper Flagg. Sure, many will classify that as a once-in-a-lifetime scenario, but there is always a possibility that history repeats itself.

If the Milwaukee Bucks endure a miracle, there would be plenty of conspiracy theories, just like when the Mavericks got the top pick after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Regardless, one pick shy of the top selection would give the Milwaukee Bucks a great opportunity to follow up their offseason hire of Taylor Jenkins with a bang.

Bucks would have options with the second pick

The second overall pick in a draft class this loaded is a dream. With the Hawks hypothetically picking first overall, the Bucks would have to choose between two of AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, and Cam Boozer, who are the consensus top three picks in this class. They could manage that. Boozer may not be the best fit with Giannis Antetokounmpo, so one would think it would be between the first two.

Either Dybantsa or Peterson would be a strong addition to this team. Dybantsa could immediately be the high-flying wing this team has been hunting for over the last few years. Peterson could add to a budding backcourt with Ryan Rollins and Kevin Porter Jr. to form a three-headed monster. One of the two could be the shot in the arm this team needs to get back into the contending picture.

Landing the top pick could open the door further for Giannis to stay, given that the Milwaukee Bucks would land a top talent to pair with him. The Tim Duncan to his David Robinson, perhaps. Wouldn't that be a fitting way to put this Giannis trade saga in the rearview after the last few months have been just flooded with rumors?

The Bucks landing the second pick is unlikely, though not impossible. It would certainly make what is already expected to be an interesting offseason all the more intriguing. Immediately, it would be the hottest story in the NBA.
