The Milwaukee Bucks are reportedly poking around the trade market for a move that could shake up this roster. Of course, that could go one of two ways. They could explore a move that uplifts them into the contention conversation after a long absence. They could also make a deal that sends the team into mediocrity for the next several years. Let's explore two separate Bleacher Report trade scenarios that capture both.

The trade the Milwaukee Bucks need

The Milwaukee Bucks desperately need small forward help. Every single lineup they run is either far too big or far too small. Herb Jones, one of the most desirable names who could be had, would be a great answer to this predicament. The All-Defensive honoree would be the big wing defender this team has been missing for years, providing them with some versatility they desperately need.

Bobby Portis has been a crucial part of Milwaukee's success for years, but as the team explores any scenario to upgrade the roster, his salary makes him an inevitable trade chip. Trading him for a piece like Jones would be worth it. Andre Jackson Jr. hasn't been featured in the rotation much, but would give the Pelicans a nice young piece to go with that prized 2031 first-rounder.

The problem with Jones is that he cannot be traded until January 14. By then, Milwaukee's hopes of bouncing back could be crushed if they keep playing as poorly as they have been lately. Yet, if they are still punching when that restriction lifts, somehow finding their stride, they'd likely make this move in a heartbeat.

The trade the Milwaukee Bucks must avoid

Whether it's a swap or straight up, the Milwaukee Bucks should keep their 2031 first-round pick off the table in any ongoing trade discussions unless it's for a true difference maker. Jeremy Sochan is not that player by any means necessary. Even if it's just a swap, trading for him when the Bucks are trying to convince Giannis Antetokounmpo to stay could be the final nail in Milwaukee's coffin.

On the year, Sochan is averaging 5.5 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while hitting 26.9 percent of his 3-pointers. Yes, the 22-year-old is a rising defender, using his 6-foot-8 stature to be versatile in any matchup, but that doesn't overshadow his stats that lack in other areas. Thinking he could be the piece to help convince Giannis to stick around would be a disastrous plan.

That pick is far too valuable to be swapped in a move for Sochan, who certainly does have potential, but he is not the piece that gets this team back on the right track.
