It feels likely that the Milwaukee Bucks will lose Gary Trent Jr. this summer, so they would be wise to start looking at shooting guards to replenish their depth. Per HoopsHype's workout tracker, they've been doing just that, working out Jaron Pierre Jr. ahead of the NBA Draft. Pierre isn't a magic cure to the team's many issues, but he could be an interesting low-risk Trent replacement.

Bucks eyeing well-traveled two guard

After stops at Southern Miss, Wichita State, Jacksonville State, and SMU, Pierre is eyeing a leap to the big leagues. At 23 years old, the guard doesn't have as much upside as younger prospects, but that gives him the tools to potentially make an impact at the next level sooner rather than later if he lands in the right situation.

During his final two seasons of college ball, Pierre was incredibly productive, averaging 19.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, three assists, and 0.8 assists per game while hitting 37.7 percent of his outside looks. In addition to the numbers, what stands out the most about the guard is his physical gifts, boasting an impressive amount of athletic pop at 6-foot-5, 185 lbs, helping him as a defender and rebounder.

With Gary Trent Jr. potentially departing in free agency and the Milwaukee Bucks possibly adopting a youth-focused approach, pursuing Pierre would be justifiable. Given the draft workout, there is clearly interest brewing.

Bucks have two options to land Jaron Pierre Jr.

Per HoopsHype, Pierre is the 60th-ranked prospect in this class. It wouldn't be surprising if someone snatched him up with a late second-rounder. The Milwaukee Bucks currently only have one pick in the entire draft, and it's 10th overall. They will not be using that selection to draft Pierre, no matter how much they might like him.

Their best bet is hoping he goes undrafted or trying to trade into the second round. They may have to if they truly want Pierre, as other teams are circling. The Washington Wizards have also checked in on Pierre leading up to the draft, and they have picks 51 and, ironically, 60. If he impressed in the draft workout, the Wizards have a clear runway to land the guard during the final 10 picks.

Given the uncertainty surrounding Trent, the Milwaukee Bucks should keep tabs on Pierre. If a path to acquire him arises, it would make plenty of sense to pounce.
