Bucks' Giannis demands from Timberwolves don't match Jaylen Brown and Heat

The Milwaukee Bucks would want a lot from the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade package.

According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the Milwaukee Bucks want Naz Reid, Jaden McDaniels, Terrance Shannon Jr., and two first-round picks in a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. Compared to the Jaylen Brown rumors and what the Miami Heat may give up, that’s a wild package to require.

That package from the Wolves would be significantly better than both Brown and the Heat’s potential package. Perhaps the Bucks could get enough stuff back from a third team for Brown or Tyler Herro to make it worth it, but those three players and picks from the Wolves are great. Much better than what the Celtics and Heat can offer.

But the Wolves probably won’t want to make that deal.

Bucks' ask from Timberwolves in Giannis deal is more than Celtics and Heat

On some level, it makes sense. All reports have indicated that Antetokounmpo doesn’t want to go to the Western Conference. He wants to play for a contender in the Eastern Conference.

So, for the Bucks to go against what their long-time franchise player wants, they would have to be getting a package so great back in return that it makes them be a bit selfish.

Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo would probably like to play for the Celtics and Heat. There are definite reports stating his desire to play in Miami, and speculation indicates that he wouldn’t mind being in Boston, either.

And the Celtics and Heat’s packages are good, too. Brown is an All-NBA player. Just not one that the Bucks necessarily want. But one who they could flip to a third team in a deal. Plus, they could get draft capital.

Then, in the case of Miami’s package, Herro is an All-Star they could flip to a third team. Jaime Jaquez Jr. is a solid player, and Kel’el Ware is a decent developmental piece. Plus, the Heat could offer the No. 13 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Again, solid assets.

But Reid and McDaniels are elite role players with potential to be more than that. And better yet, they’re both on good contracts. Contracts the Bucks shouldn’t mind having, and contracts that other teams would trade for.

Add in another young piece in Shannon, plus picks, and the Wolves’ package just has the highest density of high-quality, good-contract players in it.

But the Wolves probably won’t give all that up for Antetokounmpo. It doesn’t really make sense for them to. It would be gutting their roster.

Milwaukee’s ask from the Wolves is way bigger than the Celtics and Heat.
