The Milwaukee Bucks completely changed the course of their franchise this summer when they traded Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. Now, they’re left with a completely new roster that comes with its own challenges. And one of those challenges now involves Myles Turner.
Obviously, Turner hasn’t yielded much on the trade market. It seems likely that had the Bucks gotten a fair offer by now, they would have taken it. But nobody around the league seems keen on taking Turner on board. That leaves the Bucks in a tough position when it comes to their starting lineup next season, because realistically, they shouldn’t be investing in Turner much more.
However, if they want to find a trade partner willing to take Turner and his massive contract, they almost have to play him instead of Kel’el Ware. That’s the tough position Milwaukee is in,

Turner was brought on board last summer in an attempt to keep Antetokounmpo happy and give him the best possible chance to compete for a championship in Milwaukee.
The Bucks waived and stretched Damian Lillard, who then re-signed with the Portland Trail Blazers, and handed Turner a massive contract. Turner inked a four-year, $109 million contract that now looks like one of the worst deals in the NBA.
Last season, Turner struggled. He didn’t look like the version of himself that had just helped the Indiana Pacers make the NBA Finals. And with those struggles, his contract’s value deteriorated.
Fast forward to this summer, and Antetokounmpo is already gone, and the Bucks have reportedly been looking to offload Turner’s deal. Obviously, they haven’t had much success.
Now, heading into the season, they’re left with a dilemma. Should they bring Turner off the bench, prioritizing the development of their young talent? Or should they start Turner in hopes of improving his trade value?
Maybe if Turner starts this season, he’ll play well, and by the trade deadline, a team will be a bit more willing to take on his contract because they feel like he could be a missing piece.
However, if Turner starts and plays poorly, then the Bucks could tank his trade value even more. That would make it almost impossible to get off Turner’s contract without attaching draft picks.
That’s the brutal situation the Bucks are in right now. Not only has the Turner trade market been tough, but the starting lineup decision is going to be annoying, too.
