The Miami Heat are among the front-runners in the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade chase, and a deal would almost guarantee shipping out Tyler Herro. The problem is that the Milwaukee Bucks may not want him in a transaction due to his age, injury history, and big contract. Perhaps the Detroit Pistons could step in to take him off Milwaukee's hands in a possible trade offering.
Pistons could make Heat deal far more enticing
The Pistons have been connected to Tyler Herro in the past. Per NBA insider Jake Fischer, Herro is "definetly" a name previously linked to Detroit, though he wasn't sure if that interest is still legitimate, as he said on a Bleacher Report livestream. After they were plagued by a lack of any offense beyond Cade Cunningham, perhaps the Pistons could revisit their interest in a strong shot-maker like Herro.

Detroit has an assortment of young talent and draft picks that could be sent to Milwaukee, giving them even more in a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade. While Ausur Thompson won't be on the table, perhaps the Bucks could get their hands on Ron Holland II, who was the fifth pick a few years back, and a quality draft pick or two in exchange for Herro's services. It would be worth exploring.
Herro shouldn't be the Bucks' true prize
In any Giannis trade, Tyler Herro is mainly a financial factor. The true prizes are Miami's youngsters who cost far less. Kel'el Ware is the biggest gem, as he looks like a potential-filled big man who has the tools to become a star. Kasparas Jakučionis didn't play much during his rookie year, but with his build and smarts, he could be a legitimate offensive Swiss Army Knife.
At 21 and 19 years old, respectively, they also would fit in much better with the Milwaukee Bucks than Herro, who is 26. No matter what, if the Bucks trade Giannis, they will need time to pull themselves out of the mud and build back up to contending status. Employing a 26-year-old All-Star wouldn't do too much good for them compared to trading him for assets to further fuel the rebuild.
Of course, several things have to happen before this conversation becomes legitimate. Miami has to actually pull off a Giannis trade this summer. Detroit actually has to reignite their rumored interest in a Herro deal. If one or neither of those things happens, things suddenly look a lot different for the Bucks. Yet, based on rumors, both scenarios could very well be in the cards this summer.
