Bucks' plan with eye-catching Summer League wing should be crystal clear

Keep him around (in some capacity).

Though most of the attention was on Milwaukee Bucks such as Chris Livingston or Jamaree Bouyea, Stanley Umude flew under the radar with his performance as well. In an NBA where teams can never have too many wings, Milwaukee should look to stash Umude on the G League team, the Wisconsin Herd, next season and monitor him for a possible call up.

Bucks could have a nice (older) prospect on their hands

During his four Summer League matchups, Umude averaged eight points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 0.5 assists per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from deep. While those numbers don't exactly scream star potential, the wing was productive during his 15.2 minutes per game, making the most of his minimal minutes.

This Summer League showing might not have him destined for the NBA, but it wouldn't hurt to keep him around in the G League for another year.

Having just turned 26, Umude isn't an unheard-of young hidden gem. However, he hasn't earned much of an opportunity throughout his career, including last season with Milwaukee, where he was on a two-way contract. With Mark Sears, Jamaree Bouyea, and Pete Nance occupying those spots, the wing may need to start down in the G League next season if he stays within the organization.

Stashing a 6-foot-6 wing who is a great shooter, quality defender, and capable transition player might not be the worst thing. It would give Umude a larger platform to show what he can bring to the table as he aims to make it back to the NBA level. If he impresses, Milwaukee would have the inside track to sign him. He's familiar with the Herd, which could make this all the more possible.

The Milwaukee Bucks haven't been shy about how they want to play moving forward. This team has gotten far younger, athletic, and faster. If they want to make that the new norm over the next handful of years, they must find players who fit that mold. Even if he's older than other prospects, Umude has the tools to fit right in. It would be a fine move to stash him down in the G League and let him develop.

As for the Herd, they would likely welcome Umude, as he spent some time down there working on his craft last season.
