In FanSided's latest mock for the 2026 NBA Draft, the Milwaukee Bucks take UNC's Caleb Wilson with the fourth overall selection. If they were to get so lucky, the Bucks could add a legitimate difference-maker here. No matter what direction the franchise goes in over the next few months, Wilscon would be a welcoming addition.
Wilson would give the Bucks a much-needed up-and-comer
During his freshman season at UNC, Wilson's leaping ability and explosiveness at 6-foot-10, 215 lbs always stood out. In 24 matchups, the forward averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game. Talk about an all-around impact. With Swiss Army Knife tendencies, Wilson has the tools to be a day one contributor next season.
With the Milwaukee Bucks, there are many factors to consider. The first is how the forward would fit in with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Wilson attempted just 27 triples last season, making seven of them. It's well known that the Bucks like to surround the Greek Freak with shooters, which could make Wilson a clunk fit—the defensive excellence between the two could be flat-out salivating, though.
There is also a reality in which Giannis gets traded this summer and the Milwaukee Bucks suddenly have a massive hole at the power forward spot. In that scenario, Milwaukee would essentially hand Wilson the keys and let him be their blue-chip prospect moving forward, surrounding him with the needed talent to be the face of the franchise post-Giannis.
Both scenarios would make for interesting situations for one of the best players in this draft class.
Bucks' favorite strategy cannot be ruled out, either
Even if the Milwaukee Bucks landed a top-four pick and had a golden opportunity to land Wilson, it's not a guarantee that they would. Over the years, the team has largely discarded its draft picks in order to bring in star players, a la Jrue Holiday and Damian Lillard. If the same opportunity presents itself in the summer, they would likely consider it once more.
Of course, given how valuable a top-four pick would be in this potentially legendary draft class, there would have to be a needle-mover coming back to Milwaukee. The Bucks cannot afford to sacrifice an incredibly valuable pick like this for pennies on the dollar. It could be the final nail in the coffin for a franchise that needs a shot in the arm right now.
Where the Milwaukee Bucks land in the NBA Draft Lottery will be a significant day for the franchise.
