Bucks should have simple Nate Ament demand amid Summer League burn

The Milwaukee Bucks knew they were drafting a raw player when they took Nate Ament 13th overall in this past draft. He has looked the part throughout his first three Summer League outings, showcasing his potential in glimpses but largely being quiet. One way the Bucks could look to get their new player going is by having him increase his aggressiveness on the offensive end.

Ament should see an uptick in shot attempts

Throughout Milwaukee's first three games, Ament has 17 shot attempts, the sixth-most on the team. Two of the players ahead of him have only played in two of the three games. He has been efficient on those looks, shooting 47.1 percent from the floor, including 37.5 percent from deep, but the next step is translating that to a larger workload.

Ament has the tools to be a legitimate offensive weapon. In Summer League, the forward has shown an ability to score from several levels, including the mid-range and from distance. He just needs to do it more. Even if the shots don't go in, this is Summer League. If there was ever a time for a youngster to let it fly, it's now. They can get their feet wet and leave it all out there.

Of course, Ament shouldn't jack up every shot the second he touches the ball, but a player the team just spent a lottery pick on should be getting more looks.

Ament is raw and will take time to develop

No one should be surprised that Ament doesn't look like a finished product throughout his first three games with the Milwaukee Bucks. Coming in, everyone knew he was raw. At 19, he's young. He flexed glimpses of his potential at Tennessee, but it still felt like he might be a year or two away from it hitting the surface officially. The Bucks are clearly in love with that potential and are willing to wait.

It's clear Ament will likely be down on the depth chart once the actual season starts, so he must get as many legitimate game reps as he can here to set the stage for his development.

Perhaps the Milwaukee Bucks were fine drafting a more unpolished prospect in Ament because they knew they had something special right now in Brayden Burries. The guard has been on fire during his first three showings and looks like someone who should have the Bucks rethinking their depth chart. Once Ament's potential starts growing, Milwaukee's first-round duo could be special.
