Rockets center Alperen Sengun is reportedly a name to watch as a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade piece this upcoming summer. Sengun may not be the top-end talent that Milwaukee fans want in return for Giannis, but he can still headline a nice trade package and kickstart the Bucks' rebuild - the best-case scenario at this point. In the playoffs this year, Sengun has proven his value with his production against the Lakers.

Alperen Sengun can be a cornerstone for years to come

Sengun's place in his current franchise's future plans is also in question, but that has more to do with the roster's fit and timeline than Sengun himself. Indeed, Sengun is giving the Rockets all they could want with his playoff performance this year. Take a look at the counting stats through 3 games: 24 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists per game in addition to 2.7 steals and 1.3 blocks too.

He may have his weaknesses as a shooter and defender, but Sengun still gives any team unique strengths that can raise them into playoff contention. After 5 years in the league, Sengun feels like a mainstay for the Rockets but he's still only 23 years old. Acquiring him at his current All-Star level would give the Bucks a promising young talent that can help them reverse their trend of becoming an aging and injured team.

Sengun has now made 2 straight All-Star teams as the Rockets have reasserted themselves into the West's playoff picture. He's steadily improved to the point of becoming a 20 point-per-game scorer across the whole season, even in a secondary role next to Kevin Durant. Even with a noticeable lack of spacing around him, Sengun has found ways to score and make plays efficiently.

The Bucks could be a perfect fit for Sengun

With better shooters around him, Sengun's offensive impact would look even better. The Bucks have multiple sharpshooting wings and guards capable of complementing him. In addition, he's used to playing in the pick-and-roll as a screen setter (unlike Giannis who prefers to drive himself), so Sengun can be a great partner for Ryan Rollins.

On the Rockets, he hasn't been able to find any playoff success but the poor coaching and roster fit have contributed greatly to these failures. In his current series, Sengun has often only had one capable shooter on the floor with him. As a result, the opposing defense has been able to crowd the paint against him and even forced him to start post-ups all the way at the 3-point line.

If the Bucks trade for Sengun, they will have a chance to craft a team perfectly around him. He's still young and could develop into a worthwhile trade return in Milwaukee.
