Entering Friday's matchup, there was plenty on the line as the Milwaukee Bucks visited the red-hot Detroit Pistons.

Above all else, both teams were battling for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. The Bucks had the edge, as all they had to do was beat the Pistons in Friday's contest or in Sunday's regular season finale to lock up that spot. A nationally televised game with so much on the line on the final day of the regular season could have been interesting, but that hype won't be necessary now.

Bucks beat the Pistons, lock up fifth seed

Behind Giannis Antetokounmpo's 32 points, 15 assists and 11 rebounds, the Bucks came to life in the clutch, a common theme lately, and secured a 125-119 victory. In his third game back, Bobby Portis had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Kevin Porter Jr. poured in 12 points and seven assists to help support Antetokounmpo.

With the win, the Milwaukee Bucks clinched the fifth seed in the East. That means they do not have to go all-out for Sunday's finale, and it wouldn't be surprising if a handful of Bucks were sidelined for the matchup. With all of the injuries and ailments this team is dealing with, some rest could do this squad some good before the postseason, giving them a chance to catch their breath.

This finale could serve as a throwback to the Mike Budenholzer era, where it felt like the top half of the roster would sit out for certain contests, allowing players who don't typically see the floor to get some extended time. It would be a great chance for fringe roster players like Pete Nance, Chris Livingston, Stanley Umude and more to showcase their talent while the key cogs get some needed rest.

Just like last season, the Milwaukee Bucks will take on the Indiana Pacers in the first round. Also like last season, Milwaukee is dealing with a key injury as Damian Lillard is battling a blood clot. There is hope that he can return at some point, but it is far from certain. It feels like Giannis Antetokounmpo may have to continue holding things down for the time being, but only time will tell.

It feels like there are always plenty of fireworks when the Milwaukee Bucks and Indiana Pacers meet, and this series should only continue that tradition.
