Before being sent home, there was reportedly tension between Chris Paul and the LA Clippers staff. As the Clippers likely look to trade him in the coming weeks, many have wondered if the Milwaukee Bucks would be a good suitor, given that they reportedly had interest in him this summer. Yet, if there was headbutting between Paul and LA's coaches, it's not far-fetched to think that it would carry over.
This is one situation the Milwaukee Bucks shouldn't even consider looking into. It could blow up in their face a lot faster than it could help this team.
Chris Paul and Doc Rivers ended things on a sour note
Paul and current Bucks coach Doc Rivers were together for many years with the Clippers, but when they separated, their relationship allegedly wasn't great. In an ESPN article from 2018, Kevin Arnovitz reported that Paul told Clippers owner Steve Ballmer that Rivers was among the reasons why he left the team when he did.
Fast forward all these years, and Paul is still involved in coaching drama in LA. In recent weeks, Paul's leadership style reportedly clashed with Ty Lue and the rest of the Clippers coaching staff, per ESPN insider Shams Charania. It was so bad that the Clippers abruptly decided to send Paul home and be away from the team for the time being.
Apparently, Paul was vocal in holding management, coaches, and players accountable. Sure, that may be a good thing to some, especially with how poorly LA has played this season, but there is no telling how he went about that. It seemingly became a distraction.
Bringing Paul to Milwaukee to reunite him with a coach he already reportedly left a franchise due to a fractured relationship would certainly be a bold decision. This team already has enough drama with Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors; they don't need a player and a coach going at it behind the scenes, or worse, in front of the cameras.
On top of all that, trading for Paul simply wouldn't solve any of Milwaukee's issues. This team needs a healthy, young wing who can play defense. They don't need a 40-year-old guard averaging 2.9 points and 1.8 rebounds while shooting 32.1 percent from the floor. Paul won't come in and help get this group back on the right track. This is set to be his last season for a reason.
