Contagious Bucks disrespect has unsurprisingly infected Myles Turner

How shocking... Not.

The Milwaukee Bucks have been on the receiving end of blatant disrespect by the media for months, and it's not stopping anytime soon. Myles Turner, the team's splashy free agent signing, is the latest victim of it, as NBA2K, the popular video game, left the big man off their list of top 10 shot blockers across the league. That's just flat-out disrespectful.

Turner himself caught wind of the omission, reacting on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a GIF that signaled confusion.

Disrespect of the Milwaukee Bucks is nothing new

If analysts, video game engineers, or anyone else aren't high on the Milwaukee Bucks after three early exits from the NBA Playoffs, that's fine. The team deserves some flak there, even if a significant part of those defeats was Milwaukee's lack of health. However, Turner wasn't on the team for any of those losses. Yet, he's facing the same disrespect that the Milwaukee Bucks are.

Even if some think that Turner has regressed over the past couple of seasons, there is no way that he is out of the current top 10 shot blockers on any list. Even in a "down year," he averaged two blocks a night. He was third in the NBA this past regular season with 144 total blocks. Another omission from the list is former Buck Brook Lopez, who was second in that span with 148, but that's another story.

Making this ranking all the more confusing is that Jay Huff, Turner's so-called replacement in Indiana, ranks 10th on the list. Huff totaled just 56 blocked shots last season. Make sense out of that. Philly's Adem Bona is undoubtedly an up-and-coming shot blocker, but he only had 69 last season and came in at sixth on the list.

At the end of the day, NBA 2K ratings aren't the end-all, but sometimes, they are so egregious that it's hard to ignore. Not having Myles Turner, a two-time NBA Block Champion, as one of the 10 best shot blockers in the NBA is baffling. While he certainly shouldn't lose sleep over it, Turner could use this snub as motivation to showcase his elite shot-blocking next season. It could be a blessing in disguise.

Just about everyone on the Milwaukee Bucks is fighting to prove the doubters wrong next season. The NBA world has left them behind in rankings, analysis, and polls, and truly, that might not be such a bad thing. The last time they were completely counted out underdogs, the Bucks won it all.
