The Milwaukee Bucks are fielding trade offers for Giannis Antetokounmpo, but the only team in the Eastern Conference that seems to truly want him is the Miami Heat. Whether they are unwilling to trade certain players or want to hold their assets close to the chest, other teams in the conference just aren't showing much willingness to pursue the Greek Freak.
East teams are quiet on the Giannis trade front
The Boston Celtics are a team that had been making the rounds as a Giannis suitor. However, that idea has been shut down, at least temporarily, by ESPN's Brian Windhorst, who says that he hasn't heard that Boston, Giannis, and Milwaukee are serious about it. Things could change, but for the time being, any Giannis to Boston chatter is just fictional.
Two other teams that were previously mentioned and would have made plenty of sense were the Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic. The ability to offer Evan Mobley and Paolo Banchero were driving factors in a deal gaining any traction, as they are the type of blue-chip prospects who would satiate Milwaukee's appetite to find a young star to build around.
Yet, both teams are quiet on the Giannis front.
Per Jake Fischer (subscription required), Cleveland should be regarded as an unlikely Giannis suitor, especially after Cavs figurehead Koby Altman said Mobley is "part of our future." Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic (subscription required) report that the Magic have had no conversations about trading for Giannis this summer despite prior interest. Whelp.
The Knicks, who have been among the Giannis front-runners for months, are currently on the cusp of NBA glory as they await their Finals opponent. The odds of them blowing up their entire roster after this magical run seem slim to none. Philadelphia? Per PHLY Sports' Kyle Neubeck, the 76ers will not trade prized rookie VJ Edgecombe in any move. The Bucks won't listen then.
Outside of Miami, the conference isn't hungry for a superstar.
Miami holds the cards in Giannis race
According to 35-year Miami Herald veteran Barry Jackson, Miami has put everything they have but Bam Adebayo on the table for Giannis. Unlike the other East teams, they aren't messing around. They want Giannis Antetokounmpo, and they aren't afraid to let anyone know. At the time of this writing, this is their race to lose.
As we wrote Feb. 5, the Bucks seriously considered Heat offer & Miami was final suitor that was told no, less than 24 hours before deadline.... Milwaukee has favorable inpression of the Heat players involved.... Everything but Bam is on the table for Bucks.... What remains… https://t.co/gqd5fKNH9w

While other teams have made their stance clear, one team everyone is keeping an eye on is the Detroit Pistons. Even though they had the best record in the conference, they were outmatched during the postseason. Could they be a team that swings for the fences and trades for Giannis? There's just no telling, but unless someone gets aggressive, the Heat are in the driver's seat.
