One way or another, Wesley Matthews always seems to find himself back in Wisconsin. Following a college career at Marquette, Matthews logged two stints with the Milwaukee Bucks during his NBA career and is now back with the team, but not as a player this time. Matthews has taken on a role as a broadcaster and analyst for the franchise, embracing the next chapter of his life and NBA career.

Wesley Matthews returns to the Bucks... in a new role

Matthews isn't on every broadcast, but it's always a treat when he's calling. Having been on this team multiple times and playing with several key cogs, including Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis, he offers unique perspectives about what it was like to play alongside them and what they might be thinking in particular scenarios.

The 39-year-old also has plenty of stories about players he's guarded. During his time with the Bucks and other teams, he was often tasked with taking on the opposing team's best defender. Hearing his stories about tactics he used and what did or did not work is always unique and offers a perspective on how difficult some of these players truly are to guard.

Early on in his new adventure, Wesley Matthews is earning rave reviews, as he did on the court both in the NBA and during his four-year stay at Marquette.

Matthews first made his way to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2019-20, where he secured the job as the team's starting shooting guard. He never lit up the stat sheet, but he always played stout defense, helping fuel an elite defensive group alongside Eric Bledsoe, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez, and Khris Middleton.

The following summer, Matthews went to Los Angeles, missing Milwaukee's title run. However, he'd return to the Bucks a year later, this time on a non-guaranteed deal. He quickly earned his keep and was not only given a standard deal, but he became an essential cog. That 3-pointer and subsequent celebration against Boston on Christmas Day still give fans goosebumps to this day.

Matthews might temporarily leave Wisconsin, but he will always come back. It's great to see such a recognizable role player from the recent era not only still with the franchise but thriving in his new career. Hopefully this is just the beginning of Matthews' time with the franchise, as he has a bright future in this field.
