Remember Jaylin Galloway's time with the Milwaukee Bucks? Probably not, as it was a blink and you miss it stint. However, the former two-way wing didn't let that stop him from continuing his basketball career across the pond, where he remains focused on returning to the NBA at some point. Here is his statement to ESPN after the recent Asia Cup, where he dazzled:
"It was a tough little rough patch for me, but it's been good to come back and get my mind right. [Brian Goorjian] has been helping me a lot, we've been working really hard in the off-season. So, the next step is getting back to the NBA."
Former Bucks G Leaguer hasn't given up hope
Galloway's time with the Milwaukee Bucks began in 2024, when he inked a two-way deal with them. However, he never played a game with the franchise, instead earning his time in the G League with the Wisconsin Herd. There were glimpses of potential, but he ultimately didn't do much to stick, averaging just 4.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game across seven contests.
The one number that stood out was his blocks per game, averaging 1.3. It was a small sample size, but the wing utilized his athleticism to be a threat defensively and deter opponents. Yet, that alone could not keep him with the organization. In August of that year, he returned overseas to continue his playing career, where he still remains hopeful for a return to the NBA.
At just 22 years old, Galloway's overseas resume is indeed impressive. He earned back-to-back NBL Champion honors in 2022 and 2023, and he was selected as FIBA Asia Cup MVP just recently. There has been some growth on display from when he was with the Herd, and there's plenty more to unlock if he remains on course.
It won't be shocking if someone picks up Galloway, even if it's on a two-way deal or for training camp, especially after his Asia Cup performance. Young, athletic wings are a premium in today's game, and Galloway fits the mold. Ironically, he'd fit right in with the retooled Milwaukee Bucks, who still have an assortment of questions regarding their wing position. Yet, with the roster currently overflowing as is, it's unlikely that a reunion is in the cards.
Some players simply find more success overseas than they will in the NBA. Could that be Galloway? Right now, it's too early to tell. However, he's been a vital cog for the Sydney Kings for years now, and if the NBA doesn't come calling, he could remain a face for that team. If he keeps taking in awards like he has recently, someone stateside could very well give him a call, though.
