If the Milwaukee Bucks trade Giannis Antetokounmpo, it might not be the only deal they make soon after that. Per NBA insider Jake Fischer (subscription required), some teams across the league think Milwaukee could undergo further moves to tear down the roster, the most prominent being finding a trade suitor for Myles Turner.
Turner would command plenty of interest on the trade market
There's a reason the Bucks were willing to take on years of dead money by waiving Damian Lillard to sign Myles Turner. When the opportunity was there, it was hard to find a center who could shoot the long ball and play defense as well as he could. If the Bucks decide to dangle him in trade talks post-Giannis, he won't get as much attention as the Greek Freak, but teams will call.
Right off the bat, two teams that would make plenty of sense for Turner are the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors. Both teams were constantly linked to the big man during his time with the Indiana Pacers, and it's reasonable to believe interest could still be lingering. If neither team lands Giannis, Turner could be a nice, smaller-scale move.
On the year, he hasn't been the dominant two-way force Milwaukee Bucks fans had hoped for, but he is still averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks while shooting 39 percent from 3-point range. That is while averaging just 28.9 minutes, which ranks seventh among his 11-year career averages.
Under contract for two more seasons after this one and holding a player option for 2028-29, teams would have Turner secured for years to come, raising his value. At 29 years old, he still has plenty of good basketball left in him and could be the needle-tipping move for a team that feels like it is just a center away from making noise in the title race.
One would think it would be a mutual decision to trade away Turner if it came down to it. He came to Milwaukee because he wanted a chance to compete. Trading the franchise superstar a few months later would feel like a slap in the face, even if the Bucks' focus post-trade was still trying to compete. He'd almost certainly want to find himself in a contending environment.
For now, Myles Turner and the Milwaukee Bucks will await clarity on Giannis Antetokounmpo's stance. If Giannis elects to stay, Turner almost certainly isn't going anywhere. If he goes, Turner is seemingly bound to pop up in trade rumors.
