When Myles Turner initially joined the Milwaukee Bucks, he likely didn't envision that this is what the team would look like a year later. Nevertheless, this is the situation he's in. Rather than running from the grind and demanding a trade, the big man has embraced the situation as one of the veterans on the roster. Speaking at media day, he spoke about his impact in leading the youngsters.

"I think I've got the most years in the league on this team. I know guys really kind of follow suit, you know, with the things that I do, the way that I carry myself. It goes so much more than just your play and just the other things you talk about. Again, it's the way you carry yourself and the respect you, you know, command in this league. That's the biggest thing, you know. I wanted to move forward and show guys what it's like to be a man on and off the floor. You know, I think it's, again, another opportunity for me in this league."

Turner has been the ultimate veteran so far

With so many new faces on this new-look Milwaukee Bucks squad, Turner wanted to get everyone together to build chemistry before training camp. The veteran hosted the team in Texas, rounding up the group for activities like boating and armadillo races. He didn't have to do that. He did it because it is exactly what a leader would do, and he's embracing the role more than ever before.

The youngsters will need that. As one of the three players on the team over 30, Turner's experience can help him rally the group when needed, as he's been through high highs and low lows. If a player finds themselves flustered or if the Bucks hit a rough patch at any point, Turner can be the voice to make sure this group remains level-headed.

Following such a seismic transition after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks need him to help steer the ship in the right direction.

Ware, in particular, could benefit from Turner

Although Kel'el Ware should see a prominent role with the Milwaukee Bucks, he will still be second in command at the center spot behind Turner. Sure, he'd likely love to start from day one, but spending time learning from Turner could be great for him in the long term. By playing as a reserve, Ware can constantly pick Turner's brain, learn his habits, and hopefully continue growing.

Then, if Turner does get traded in the near future, Ware may be more prepared to step into a massive role compared to if the Milwaukee Bucks tossed him into the fire right away.

For now, unless the Milwaukee Bucks pull off a Jalen Duren deal on the eve of the preseason, there is no reason to speculate about Turner's future. He's made himself a valuable piece off the floor and can do the same on the floor if he proves last year was just a bump in the road. Teams need veterans, and Myles Turner is showing exactly why.
